Neuropsychological Evaluation
What Is Neuropsychological Testing, or a Neuropsychological Evaluation?
This evaluation involves a detailed look at how the brain and behavior connect. At Summit, it’s the most comprehensive evaluation we offer.
For children and adolescents with a complex medical, developmental, or neurological history, this evaluation integrates cognitive, academic, psychological, and medical findings into a complete picture of how your child’s brain is functioning, the impact on behavior and development, and how best to guide treatment and support.
Neuropsychological evaluations are often most appropriate for children with histories such as prematurity, epilepsy, traumatic brain injury, genetic or neurological conditions, in-utero substance exposure, complicated developmental presentations, or multiple co-occurring concerns. They may also be recommended when prior evaluations have not fully clarified the diagnostic picture.
Who This Evaluation Is For
This evaluation is a good fit for children with:
A history of prematurity, epilepsy, traumatic brain injury, or other neurological conditions
Genetic conditions or in-utero substance exposure
Complicated or overlapping developmental, medical, psychiatric, or behavioral concerns
Prior evaluations that didn’t fully explain what’s going on
A need for a complete, integrated picture across medical, cognitive, and behavioral domains
What to Expect
This is our most comprehensive evaluation, with approximately six to eight hours of direct testing time, plus a clinical interview hour and a feedback session hour to review findings and recommendations in detail.
You’ll leave with an integrated understanding of your child’s cognitive, academic, psychological, and medical picture, along with guidance for treatment, school, and next steps.
